Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some common questions we hear about Sapelo Island and SINERR.

No. There are no roads to Sapelo Island. 

Ferry tickets are sold only to visitors who are on a scheduled public tour. If you are being hosted by an on island resident they will make your ferry arrangments. 

We offer Public Tours twice a week on Sapelo Island for a minimal cost. Find out more here. For information about private tours please call the Visitors Center.

Sapelo is a limited access island. There is transportation available to the general public from the island ferry landing. Island visitors must have an on-island host to arrange transportation.

Sapelo Island has electricity and running water. Cell service is available on the island but the signal can be weak. 

Private boats are only allowed beneath the high-water mark on the beaches and at the Hunt Dock for those with a Hunting/Fishing License or Conservation Lands Permit.
