Education Program

The Reserve offers a variety of education programs for school groups, the public, special interest groups, and teachers. Programs highlight salt marsh (estuarine) and barrier island ecology, nongame and endangered species, current research efforts on the reserve, and Sapelo’s rich cultural history.

School Programs

SINERR's Educational Program for K-12 and higher education students provides exemplary environmental programs that highlight the unique habitats on Sapelo Island.

Public Tours

An overview of the ecology and history of Sapelo Island. Tours run every Wednesday and most Saturdays and require a reservation.

Group Tours

Are you part of a special interest group that would like a custom tour of Sapelo Island? Arrange to experience the beauty and significance of Sapelo Island.

Teachers

The Reserve provides several Teachers Workshops every year. These workshops help teachers bring the science of our estuaries into their classrooms.

Trails

The education program uses two nature trails on the island for schools, teachers, and group programming. The trails also feature self-guided interpretation and educational signage.
