A biannual partner newsletter offered to highlight the events, programs and projects undertaken by each of the reserve’s four core sectors.  It also provides information on important operations information and updates from the Visitors Center.

A monthly podcast for all ages highlighting different aspects of coastal research and science relevant to coastal Georgia.  May not unsuitable for those with an allergy for bad jokes and puns. Can be found on any podcatcher platform

Science on Tap

An entertaining and informal “TED-talk” style lecture series meant for the general public. The topics are focused coastal Georgia relevant topics may include environmental sciences, ecology, biology, local history, special interest natural resources, anthropology,  and archeology, and so much more. These are hosted at different local businesses in Mcintosh and Glynn Counties. 

Sapelo Summer Symposium

The event brings students, researchers, and community members together to share scientific knowledge and discoveries from Sapelo Island and the surrounding areas. This biennual event fosters exchange between scientists and residents, building connections that strengthen our understanding of local ecosystems and support the McIntosh County community. Join us to celebrate science, community, and the unique environment of Sapelo Island!



Tides & Tales Film Festival

This film festival celebrates the wonderful combination of visual art, our local coastal businesses, and the Estuaries! We feature local films at various locations along the coast in partnership with various organizations. If you have a film you would like to feature that highlights the importance of our coastal communities, both human and nature- let us know! This is not a juried event. 

Science & ...

This is a biannual, “snack & learn” style program that involves formal presentations mixed with informal discussions to update both the on-island at the Hogg Hummock Public Library and local county communities at the Sapelo Island Visitor Center in Darien. This helps us gain important feedback to ongoing and future projects and keeps the community informed about our work.
