There are three nature trails: one on the mainland by the Visitors Center, and two on Sapelo Island. Please read below for information on trails and trail closures.
This trail is a 1.1 mile loop that starts at the Visitors Center on the mainland. It is a flat, earthen trail that meanders around maritime forest and other marsh habitats. This is a great place to watch for birds.
Difficulty: Easy – be prepared for uneven surfaces. The trail may be muddy after rain.
This one-way trail begins on Beach Rd. and ends on Nanny Goat Beach (approximately 1 mile). It meanders through salt marsh, pine forest, maritime forest, and sand dunes. The trail is a mix of earthen trail and boardwalks. It is a great place to view marsh birds and listen to song birds in the forest canopy.
To make it a 2.5 mile loop: start at the trail head and walk the 1 mile to the beach access point of the trail, turn right and walk a half-mile down the beach to the the beach access point at Beach Rd. then walk Beach Rd. back to the trail head.

This is an easy 0.25 mile trail through dune habitat and maritime forest with a mix of earthen trail and boardwalks.
