Sapelo Island has restricted visitation. The island is only accessible by boat. There are no public docks on Sapelo Island – except for Hunt Camp Dock.
The state of Georgia provides a passenger Ferry to the island, and advance reservations are required.
Only island landowners (e.g., private landowners, the GA DNR, SINERR, and UGAMI/LTER) can make ferry reservations.
All visitors must be pre-registered by a landowning host. Their host will make the ferry reservations for their visitors.

Holidays: Ferry does not run on New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day, Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Day.
All public and group tours guests need to check-in first at the Visitor Center.
